LEICA DD130 OPERATING MODES
• Automatic mode (passive)
Automatically detects electrical or radio fields, allowing underground utilities to be located as soon as work begins and making cable detection faster.
• Radio mode (passive)
Detects radio noise – specifically, radio signals re-radiated by underground utilities that are energised by distant radio transmitters.
Radio waves penetrate the ground and energise underground utilities. The resulting signals can then be detected using the Leica DD130 cable locator.
• Power mode (default)
Detects signals generated by live power cables operating at 50 or 60 Hz, which pose a major hazard during excavation.
• Transmitter or sonde mode (active, 8 and 33 kHz)
It detects signals generated by the dual-frequency DA175 signal transmitter. In active mode, a signal at 8 or 33 kHz is applied to a conductor by induction or direct connection and then detected at the surface using the Leica DD130 locator. This enables the detection of de-energised cables, pipes and other metallic underground utilities.
Leica DD130 DD-series cable locator — advanced intelligence
Measuring the depth of underground utilities
Leica DD130 cable locators can estimate utility depth in active mode using a DA175 signal transmitter or a standard signal sonde at 8 or 33 kHz. At the press of a button, the user receives an approximate depth reading for the cable or line.
Peak reading
The maximum reading function allows you to accurately identify the wire or electric cable by displaying the maximum amplitude for a short time.
Improved sonde detection
DD130 cable locators in the DD series have a user-friendly display showing the received signal level. The peak signal reading indicates the position of the Digimouse sonde below ground.
Hazard zone
Shallowly buried cables pose a potentially fatal hazard to construction workers. The DD series includes a Danger Zone feature that provides an additional warning when the locator operator is close to a buried cable.
